This canvas is based on ‘Daphnis and Chloe’ (1743) a painting by Francois Boucher.  I painted it to challenge myself with scale for the hour my son had football practice.  My recent work connects classical painting with personal history, the title is a wink to a song about vanity. 
 
Eilish McCann is an Irish painter.  Recent shows include The Lido Open (2025, 2023) Beep Wales (2024, 2022, 2020) and Jackson’s Painting Prize 2023.  She completed the Turps Art School, London online correspondence course in painting 2019-2021 and also holds a Diploma in Art and Design from GMIT, Galway (2001).
