An icon of a ray cat, inspired by 1980s nuclear semiotics - when philosophers imagined radioactive-sensitive cats as future symbols warning of buried nuclear waste. This scale challenged me to distill the unease within those ideas, to make an object that could have been created in that distant future. 
 
Jean Davis is interested in the relationship between humans and their environment, particularly the stories they tell to make sense of the world. The artist draws on mythological, religious, spiritual and personal narratives.
