“Slumber nest” is a painting set on stillness. A comforting tilting of a sleepy head; a bird that, feet tucked in, stares straight ahead, vigilant.
The small scale demanded a heightened level of perception in each process of this work, and as much care and love as is presented in the scene.
 
Maria Cepeda, a Colombian artist based in the UK, is a multidisciplinary artist whose work explores the intersection of fiction, storytelling, and culture. 
Currently her main interest is on the cultural relationships we harbour with animals and what this tells us of our human identities.
