Ordinarily I find myself enlarging my life drawings when I paint from them. Shrinking them down feels like moulding paint as much as applying it. The tactile nature of each brush stroke being as descriptive as the lines and colours.
 
Charlotte Houlihan is an expressive figurative painter whose work is defined by playful exploration of colour and lusciousness of paint. She is a mother to two children in a neurodivergent household where she juggles her roles as artist, tutor and primary carer. She was awarded the 24/25 NEAC Scholarship.
