Reflections at 9
5.1 x 7.6 cm
Acrylic, ink, pencil, dry transfers, adhesive elements on wood
2025

Reflections at 9 evolved through cycles of making, photographing, and reworking – each layer bridging digital and analogue. Transferred imagery, dry transfers, and gestural marks combine across a miniature wooden block. Working at this scale intensified my focus on depth and contrast, compressing layers into a compact, physical form.

Hastings-based artist Duncan Brown explores the space between analogue and digital, natural and constructed, in layered mixed-media works. His work balances gestural marks with geometric precision. In the last year he was shortlisted for The John Ruskin Prize and Beep Painting Biennial, and exhibited in London, Edinburgh, and Hastings.
