Sheppard’s work oscillates between large sculptures or paintings and small detailed paintings, that are made using multiple translucent layers of paint. Rather than appearing diluted the compact size holds a similar amount of information as her larger work. The contrasting materials are combined to create dramatic transient environments.
Jo Gabriele Sheppard's work explores ancient and contemporary ecology, using a dreamlike logic. She graduated from Camberwell College of Arts in 2021 and has exhibited in galleries such as Fabrica, Brighton, and Hannah Peschar Sculpture Garden, Dorking. She also participated in the Canal Boat Contemporary Minatures Challenge show in 2024.
