Working at 5 x 5 cm reshaped my attention—each fragment amplified, every decision sharpened. The scale invites intimacy, a slowing of gesture. However, in reproduction its smallness dissolved; the image seemed to refuse measure, carrying a presence beyond size, as if the miniature spoke with a larger voice.
 
Sara Breinlinger is a London-based painter and collage maker, recently having completed the offsite programme at Turps.  She is drawn to moments when systems falter—where clarity gives way to imperfection, slippage and ambiguity.  She exhibits widely in the UK and Europe.
